The quote by Marianne Williamson that I put at the beginning of this section on intention is so poignant, if we allow it to be.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Often we do not give our intentions enough credit. We have discussed clarifying intentions and orienting our entire bodies towards them. Now it is time to stop and take stock of just how incredibly powerful we are.
For meditation today:
- Find a comfortable position.
- Notice your breath. Begin to lengthen the exhales and inhales, engaging the diaphragm as previously taught.
- Do a body scan, beginning at the top of your head and going all the way down to your toes. Relax each muscle and body part as you go. It may take a few minutes or many.
- In this relaxed place, ask yourself the following series of questions:
- What is my light?
- How am I playing small?
- How am I allowing this light to shine?
- How am I unconsciously and consciously giving all people permission to let their lights shine?
- Take a few final breaths to sit and bask in your light and power.
